In celebration of Pokémon’s 30-year anniversary, we’re bringing a nostalgic twist to the studio with a special Pokémon-inspired pottery workshop. As part of our Pokémon anniversary series, this playful handbuilding workshop invites you to create a Pokémon-inspired character plate — combining functional pottery with sculptural design. In this session, you’ll craft a small handbuilt plate and attach your own Pokémon-inspired figure, bringing personality and storytelling into your piece.

Our instructor will demonstrate essential handbuilding techniques, including shaping a plate form, building and attaching sculpted elements, and creating stable character features. We’ll share demo examples ranging from simple to more detailed designs, so you can choose the level of difficulty that feels right for you. Whether you prefer a minimal character accent or a more dimensional figure, the creative direction is completely up to you.

You’ll finish by painting your piece with underglaze colours, and our team will glaze and kiln-fire it for you after the workshop.

  • Finished pieces must be picked up within 1 month of notification. After this time, unclaimed items will be discarded.
  • Pottery is a delicate process, and sometimes pieces may crack or break during drying or firing. This can happen for many reasons—like air bubbles forming while you pulled up the clay, not enough compression at the base, drying too quickly due to weather, or issues during kiln firing. While we do our best to prevent this and it doesn’t happen often, we can’t guarantee that every piece will survive the full process 100% of the time. It’s all part of the pottery journey—and at Clayground, we embrace the wabi-sabi mindset: perfectly imperfect.
