This 6-week class is for 18+ 

Students will begin by mastering the fundamentals of working with clay on the potter’s wheel. This course dives more in-depth and lays the groundwork for creating functional ceramic pieces, guiding students from wedging/clay prepping a simple lump of clay to centering, pulling, shaping, trimming, handle attaching, and glazing to a finished pot. No prior experience in ceramics is necessary—just bring your creativity!

Each class is 150 minutes total, including up to 20 mins of cleanup. Classes are weekly, recurring on the same day and time

Note - Price is for one person; please select the date/time range and quantity below for attending participants, then add to cart. 

  • Week 1 - Studio safety/orientation, wedging/clay prep demo & practice, centering demo & practice, clean up. 
  • Week 2 - Prep clay, continue centering practice, pulling and shaping demo & practice, clean up. 
  • Week 3 - Prep clay, creating pieces you want to keep, clean up.
  • Week 4 - Trimming demo & handle attachment demo, start trimming your pieces & adding attachments if desired. If you are not attaching anything and finish trimming early, you can opt to make more items if there is still space left on your board, clean up.
  • Week 5 - Finish trimming remaining pieces, or can opt for some underglaze painting (optional), clean up.
  • (All items will be going through the first bisque firing by our studio before week 6)
  • Week 6 - Glaze safety, glazing techniques demo, glaze all bisque-fired items, clean up.
  • (All glazed items will be going through a second firing by our studio and will be notified for pick up after)
  • Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your classes begins.
  • We cannot be held responsible for any personal items left behind, so please remember to take all your belongings with you when you leave. 
  • Laying the groundwork for creating functional ceramic pieces. Learning all the steps from wedging/clay prep, centering, throwing, shaping, handle attaching trimming, and glazing.
  • 150 mins class once a week, spanning over 6 weeks. Total of 6 classes.
  • Small group setting with up to 6 participants
  • All materials & tools provided, including clay, glazes and firing
  • Create up to one wareboard (12" x 18") of items (usually fits anywhere from 6-8 items).
  • Trimmed nails and tied up hair
  • Clothes and footwear that you are okay with getting a little muddy. (Aprons provided)

6-Week Classes:

  • If your scheduled classes have not started, you may request to reschedule to another date/time slot at least 1 week before the class start date by emailing us at helloteam@clayground.ca. While we cannot guarantee a spot in the same month, we’ll try our best to place you in the next available session.
  • If your classes have started and you cannot make it to one of the classes in the 6-week, we do allow one make-up session. Please talk to your instructor in-class and we can work something out.

Cancellations:

We DO NOT offer refunds.

  • However, if you want to cancel a 6-week class 1+ week in advance, we can issue a store credit for future use. Please email us at helloteam@clayground.ca
  • Cancellations made after these timeframes are not eligible for rescheduling or store credit.
